Make My Vape (referred to in this Privacy Policy as “we”, “us” or “our”) is the UK’s number one DIY e-liquid specialist.  We are dedicated to protecting our customers’ privacy.

What We Collect

We collect the personal data we need from our customers in order to identify them.  For example, their name, username, password and date of birth. We also collect their contact details such as an email address and telephone number which are needed to confirm orders.

In addition, we collect ‘Device Information’ from customers, including their web browser, IP address and time zone.

When a customer places an order with us, or attempts to place an order with us, we collect ‘Order Information’.  This includes the customer’s name, billing address, shipping address and credit or debit card number, so that we can process the payment and dispatch the order.  All of this information is stored securely.

Like all retailers, we place Cookies on your device to help us provide the best service possible. Cookies are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. How We Use Your Personal Information

Personal Information (such as the customer’s name, address and telephone number) is used for a number of reasons.  The first and foremost is to fulfil the customer’s order and to contact them regarding their orders. This information also allows customers to create a Make My Vape account so they can check out faster and claim the benefits of membership.  Finally, Personal Information is used in fraud prevention and detection.

Device Information (such as your IP address) helps us to optimise our website.  By identifying trends, we can learn where we need to provide more information to our customers, make the website easier to navigate and give them a better experience.  We also use the Device Information to screen for potential fraud.

Order Information (when a customer places or attempts to place an order) is primarily used to fulfil that order.  The information gathered is used to take payment for the order and to give any necessary refunds. We do not store card information once a payment has been provided.  Such information is shared with credit card providers, such as Worldpay, in order to fulfil the order securely. Finally, Order Information is used to detect and prevent credit card fraud.



Sharing your data

We share Personal Information (such as Personal Data, Device Information and Order Information) with third parties in order to fulfil orders and optimise our customers’ experience.  We share this information with Shopify, Ometria, Loyalty Lion, Paypal, Worldpay, Royal Mail, Spently, CloudIQ and Google Analytics.

We only share our customers’ Personal Information with third parties to fulfil online purchases, improve our website and for our own direct marketing.

  • We use Shopify to power our online store.  You can read more about how Shopify uses Personal Information here.
  • We share our customers’ Personal Information, Device Information and Order Information with Ometria for direct marketing.  This enables us to send only relevant and personalised marketing emails to consenting customers.  Any customer who wishes to unsubscribe from Ometria emails can do so by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of the email.  To read more about Ometria’s Privacy Policy, click here.
  • We send transactional emails via Spently and Ometria. Transactional emails ensure that you receive the relevant information about your order and your product(s). These emails include, order confirmation emails, shipping confirmation emails, abandoned cart reminders, shipping updates and follow-up information about the product(s) you have purchased.
  • When a customer creates an account with us, we share their Personal Information and some of their Order Information with Loyalty Lion.  This allows us to send customers updates about their account, how many reward points they have and what rewards are available, as well as adding Birthday points to their account.  The information shared with Loyalty Lion, and the emails send through this service, are relevant only to the customer’s account, orders and reward points. Any customer wishing to unsubscribe from these emails can do so by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of the email and will then only receive order confirmation emails.  To read Loyalty Lion’s Privacy Policy, click here.
  • Like many companies, we use the services of Royal Mail and Parcelforce to deliver our products safely.  We share our customers’ relevant Order Information with these companies so that they can complete the deliveries and contact customers with details of their order.  In the event that an order is not completed to a satisfactory standard, Make My Vape will investigate on our customers’ behalf.
  • To complete online orders, we share Order Information with Paypal and Worldpay.  This allows payments to be made securely.
  • We share Order Information, some Device Information and Personal Information with Spently in order to give our customers a personalised shopping experience.  These services are designed to help our customers to complete their orders and receive the best customer service, with personalised emails such as ‘abandoned cart’ reminders so that they can complete any orders they wish to.

Finally, we may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information, or to otherwise protect our rights.



Creating a Make My Vape Account

You can sign up to create an account with Make My Vape that will allow you to store personal details such as your address for faster checkout and give you access to the members’ rewards.

You can also sign up to receive emails about the latest news, offers and deals at Make My Vape and, by doing so, have given your explicit permission to receive these emails.  If you sign up to accept email marketing and then create an account with us, it will be understood that you continue to accept email marketing, even if you do not then tick the ‘accept email marketing’ box.  If you change your mind at a later date, it is easy to unsubscribe from the emails by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of every email.



Behavioural Advertising

As described above, we use our customers’ Personal Information to provide them with targeted advertisements or marketing communications.  This is material we have reason to believe is of interest to them. How Long Do We Keep Your Data?

We keep our customer’s Personal Information for as long as it is required.

In order to protect your rights, we follow strict internal procedures to ensure that our customers’ data is deleted from our systems when it is no longer required.  Customers can ask us to delete their Personal Information at any time using the contact information provided at the bottom of this document.



How Do We Protect Your Data?

We take our customers’ privacy seriously and ensure that their data is protected in a number of ways.

We do this by applying physical and electronic safeguards to all aspects of Personal Data, when collecting, storing or disclosing it and have procedures which reinforce these.  We encrypt all information while it is being transmitted and use computer safeguards such as firewalls to keep our customers’ data safe. It is our policy to regularly monitor our systems to check for possible vulnerabilities and ensure our system, and our customers’ data, is secure.



How Do I Opt Out of Marketing Communications?

Our customers can unsubscribe from emails at any time by clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of any email.

As listed above, we use different third-party services to send marketing emails, account information and personalised shopping emails.  Each of these is independent and customers must unsubscribe from them separately. This is to enable customers to receive only the emails they want (for example, a customer might wish to receive information about their account, such as how many reward points they have, but might not want to receive marketing emails highlighting our latest deals).



Do Not Track

Please note that we do not alter our site’s data collection practices when we get a Do Not Track signal from your browser.



Customers from Outside the UK

If a customer is based outside the UK, we will access their data within the UK and, therefore, internationally.

Data belonging to customers outside of the UK will be accessed and shared with third parties in the same way as data belonging to customers in the UK.



Your Rights

Our customers have the right to access at any time all the Personal Information we store about them.  To exercise this right, customers need to contact us using the contact details at the bottom of this document.

Our website is not intended for individuals under the age of 18.

People under the age of 18 cannot purchase from us either via our website or in our store.
