How to make high VG e-liquid.

How to make high VG e-liquid.

James Pawley

Over the years vaping has not only become a popular and effective way of cutting cigarettes or completely quitting smoking, but it has developed its own fashion, trends and for some it has become a new hobby or a way to meet new people and be a part of community. Some advanced vapers decided to proudly manifest their belonging to a vaping community, by blowing impressive, large amounts of clouds.

What is VG?

I suppose we should start by answering this common question. Vegetable Glycerine (VG) is a product widely used in food and pharmaceutical industries. It is a colourless, odourless, lightly sweet, and thick liquid extracted from plant oils. Most of the popular brands of e-liquids available on the market are high VG ratio juices like, 70/30 and 80/20 or even 100% VG. Vapers who really want to show off and don’t mind very limited visibility will go for the e-liquids high in vegetable glycerine. Although, those who are more of a flavour connoisseur and enjoy their chocolate gateau creation with barely noticeable hint of peppermint, might find high VG liquids not so enjoyable. The main difference between VG and PG is that PG, tends to carry flavours better. If you are more of flavour lover rather than a cloud chaser, you will definitely appreciate PG properties.

Making it your own Smoke

So, if you feel like big clouds will suit you, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money for branded vape e-liquids, you will probably be interested in home brewing your very own high VG liquid. It is extremely easy! What you need is VG base and, VG based nicotine, if you’re using some. Our flavour concentrates are based in PG, therefore you will get some PG in your ratio. But don’t worry, as this will not only make your e-liquid nice and smooth, but PG tends to carry the flavouring better, so you will still get a full and strong flavour. High VG juices will also require longer steeping, so the VG and PG based flavours, can blend nicely together. It is also good to keep in mind, that vegetable glycerine is lightly sweet. If you are not the biggest fan of super sweet e-liquids, for high VG ratio you probably shouldn’t use very sweet flavours, like marshmallow or candy floss.

RDA – Rebuildable Dripping Atomisers

If you want to achieve really impressive clouds you will probably have to get a hardware and device design especially for cloud chasers. RDA can be a nice addition to your DIY hobby. It will require a lot of manual skills to build your own coil and you’ll have to change your wick quite often. RDA is probably more suitable for advanced vapers and those with knowledge of ohm law. Subohming requires a powerful battery and you have to remember the resistance of your coil build needs to be compatible with your battery! Here you can find a link to an Ohms Law Calculator that should help you figure it out. It is also very important to follow the manufacturer safe guidelines!

Knowing your ingredients

No matter if you are a cloud or flavour chaser, knowing were your vape ingredients where manufactured is very important. Our liquids are produced, tested, bottled and labelled in UK. But why does it matter? Our Nicotine and PG and VG bases are produced in UK and Europe. We follow strict regulations, to provide 99% pure, pharmaceutically graded products. This mean you are vaping only what is safe to inhale.
